1.

Quiescent seascape,
Single thought persists--
Will I ever be normal?

2.

Rain pounding windows,
Melancholy silence--
Yet… a smiling sunbeam.

3.

Oblivious subway,
Kindly neighbor smiles--
Sustained life.

4.

Haiku is…
Written snapshot
Of human life experience.

5.

Summer warmth,
Love and fireflies--
Neither found.

6.

In the sunlit garden
Golden tulips
Beam.

7.

Facing towering mountain,
Explorer pauses--
Mountain lies within him.

8.

Clinging to pale oblong sphere...
Hot tears
And frigid rain.

9.

Watermelon moon,
Nature dozes--
Then, an owl's soft hoot.

10.

3 am
Insomniac squirms
The mind is restless.

11.

Tiny auburn capsule
Swallowed for sleep...
And does nothing.

12.

Noonday sun
Shimmering waves--
An osprey dives.

13.

Sinking sanguine sun
Starry-eyed lovers
Dash into obscurity.

14.

From hills, bullets scream,
Shrapnel showers in the square--
Cellist begins.

15.

Soldiers huddle in trenches--
Long gone
Are romantic notions of war.

16.

Sitting on tracks
For a never coming train--
God had other plans.

17.

Skies darken,
Wind picks up...
The seagulls have their fun.

18.

Balmy evening
Junebugs flitter
And frogs begin their chorus.
